While living in Cambodia in 2015 Arlene decided to make her three-year-old niece a handmade gift; a book introducing her to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Not surprisingly, the project gained the attention of development practitioners and policy makers alike, with UNICEF Cambodia translating and producing the book in Khmer. Since then, Arlene has moved home to Ireland where she lives with her toddler, Julia, who keeps Arlene on her toes! In response to the growing demand for books introducing young children to the issues addressed through the SDGs, Arlene is sharpening her colouring pencils to begin her next offering.

Eyal is an actor and screenwriter who is credited for writing work on Cars 3, Angry Birds 2, Scoob, and has many un-credited work as well - such is the life of a screenwriter. As an actor, Eyal has starred in many television shows. He is a graduate of Dartmouth college.

Ashley is a former actress who left entertainment for a boring corporate desk job. A graduate of New York University Tisch School Of The Arts, she’s thrilled that the pandemic slowed life down enough for her to return to her creative roots. Bev Moore graduated in English and, as Head of Literacy at West Kent College, she specialised in teaching literacy and working with teenagers who had special needs and behavioural issues.
As a UNICEF Volunteer, Bev became a major campaigner for children’s rights.

She was one of 11 people to successfully lobby for the topic of Child Citizenship to be taught in schools, eventually becoming part of the GCSE curriculum. Bev also lectured teachers on how to deliver this important subject.

As a mother of two, educating children on their rights and responsibilities remains a key focus, with a particular passion for Water Aid.

Whether it was a Hollywood blockbuster like Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, WWE rivalries such as Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior, or even a good old-fashioned book like Ferdinand, Humza has always been enamoured with different forms of entertainment and their ability to captivate audiences with stories.

Humza ultimately took his fascination one step further by studying film at Kingston University, before delving into writing about both film and professional wrestling for the past five years. Mawuena Rankine is an author as well as a Purpose and Mindset Coach. Her passion for writing and illustration can be traced back to early childhood. One of her most prominent primary school memories is a time when she received an award for a portrait picture that she drew of a classmate. I was born into Apartheid in South Africa (SA), where for 25 years I was an activist for the liberation movement (ANC). I left SA as a refugee and was granted political asylum in the UK in the early 1980s.

I write because I believe that together we shall turn our pain into Power! I help others to find their voice and to keep themselves safe.

I use my experience to work with excluded communities worldwide, telling my story in classrooms, workplaces and boardrooms. I help institutions to include the voice of their beneficiaries in service delivery.

I particularly enjoy presenting at Assemblies in schools, giving children an opportunity to question me directly about what Apartheid South Africa was like. In 2013 I founded I Protect Me www.iprotectmesouthafrica.org, an organisation which empowers women and children in South Africa to speak out and stand up against abuse.

Dr Sarah Mundy is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and mum of three rapidly growing boys! Sarah has worked with children and families for over 20 years now, regularly using stories in her clinical work and seeing the positive impact they can have in helping children to understand and express themselves.

When she first became a parent, Sarah realised how many books told adults what to "do" to children, rather than talked about how to understand what was going on for them. She felt that young children's voices were often missing and that this could make it more difficult for parents and children to come together - particularly when exploring situations which gave rise to big feelings (for everyone involved!). So Sarah decided to write a series of *interactive* stories for young children.

Bartley's Books feature Bartley the bear (and his parents) learning to cope with, and understand, his world. There is also a curious squirrel called Nudge (who can be found by lifting the flaps). Throughout the stories Nudge asks questions to help the readers understand both Bartley's but also their own experiences.

The stories encourage interaction and give adults a greater insight into a child's internal world (and are often surprised by what they learn!). They aim to support young children's emotional and behavioural development, their ability to think about their own and others' feelings, understand that they are not alone in finding some feelings hard to manage and help adults feel more confident in finding the words to talk about big feelings.

There is also an accompanying Parenting Handbook which describes the psychological theory behind Bartley's Books. It provides information on the importance of storytelling and the attachment relationship and includes practical suggestions on how you can support children's emotional and behavioural development throughout the early years, and beyond.

I am a therapist, trainer and group facilitator and have been practising for over 20 years. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

An expert on childhood bereavement and family breakdown and winner of a Family Law Award for best support service. Currently I manage all the training needs at one of the country’s leading bereavement charities, I also works as a trauma specialist in schools and corporations and lecture for Universities on child bereavement.

I am often asked to comment in National Press articles including, The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph, Express and the Mail, as well for the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

I have made numerous appearances on national television including This Morning and Sky news, as well as being a regular on BBC radio.
